Work psychology is a branch of psychology concerned with understanding people's behavior, experiences, and performance in the workplace. Psychologists working in this field specialize in work-organizational psychology, industrial-organizational psychology, occupational psychology, and organizational-social psychology.
Work psychology examines individual and organizational factors in conjunction with each other to connect with people in the workplace and create a positive workplace. Individually, it examines employee emotional and cognitive processes, job satisfaction, motivation, stress, and fulfillment; organizationally, it examines communication, group dynamics, leadership, culture, and change.
Focusing on understanding, supporting, and developing employees, work psychology can work hand in hand with human resources in the areas of internal recruitment, training and development, performance evaluation, and workplace health and safety. Process planning in these areas focuses on people, aiming to enhance the well-being and performance of both employees and businesses.
